THE SKEPTIC'S JOURNEY PART 1 – FAITH IN GOD IS ILLOGICAL
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
[David] I’m going to share with you a powerful true story of an atheist’s multi-year search for answers. This person wanted to understand this world, how it was made and how mankind came to be. He also wanted to dispel what he believed to be "the myths" about a God who was responsible for all of this.
[David] I know this individual personally and the words used throughout this entire series are his exact words. This is his story… his journey.
[David] For various reasons, our skeptic prefers anonymity, so we are using others to portray him. Perhaps you can relate to some of the things he has to say:
[Skeptic] “I don’t believe in God. I don’t understand how anyone can put their faith in God without proof of His existence. It’s illogical.”
[Skeptic] “Science tells us everything we want to know about our existence. There is no need for God or religion to explain it.”
[Skeptic] “The Bible is fiction. I don’t understand how anyone bases their life on an ancient, irrelevant mythical book.”
[David] As you can see, we are dealing with an extreme skeptic. His journey starts by seeking answers to important questions about our existence.
[Skeptic] “I’m at a point in my life where I need answers. Why are we here? Where did we come from? What is our purpose? Where are we going?
[Skeptic] “I’m going to start with science and logic. I should be able to prove that God is a delusion.”
[David] But to be fair, he also researched the “other” side of the debate… the Bible and other religious texts.
[Skeptic] “I want to expose religion for it’s ridiculous answers to life’s most important questions.”
[Skeptic] “Does proof of a miracle exist anywhere? As an intelligent and rational human being, I find it impossible to believe in miracles. And yet, all religions have their versions of them.”
[Skeptic] “For instance, the Bible is full of stories about miracles. We are asked to believe them solely on ‘faith’. Well, I’m sorry but I can’t do that without evidence to back it up.”
[Skeptic] “I tried reading the Bible once. I couldn’t get past the first book, Genesis. It attempts to reveal how the world started, and it asks us to accept, on faith, the mother of all miracles, creation itself, without any real explanation of how it all happened. I don’t see how anyone can believe that.”
[David] Well, there you have it. This skeptic believed faith in God is illogical. Perhaps you can relate? No matter where you stand on the spectrum of belief, I invite you to join us in watching The Skeptic’s Journey. He will research the answers science provides, but he will also look at answers from the Bible and other religions, all from an extremely skeptical perspective, and all based on a real-life true story.
